What is Jacquard?
Jacquard is a loom that weaves the fabric in different colors and mixed patterns on the floor texture. The basis of weaving machines called jacquard is from Turks. Turks used to weave old embroidered fabrics on handlooms. It was a system established to remove the warp wires required by the embroidery of these looms and to pass colorful threads between them. These kinds of stalls were called Chinese stalls.
These machines are called Jacquard looms because a French mechanic named Joseph-Marie Jacquard mechanized this classic loom. In jacquard looms, the job of lifting the warp wires and passing the colored threads between them is done automatically, so that even the most mixed embroidery fabrics can be woven by a single worker. The widespread use of jacquard looms starting from 1812 has created a real revolution in the weaving industry.

History of Jacquard Fabric
The essence of weaving machines called jacquard today comes from the Turks. The Turks used to weave old embroidered fabrics on handlooms. These looms have many strengths and there are many apprentices on the scaffoldings built on the top and back of the loom in order to remove the warp wires required by the embroidery of the fabric and pass the colored threads between them and they removed the required strengths by the weaver’s order. These kinds of stalls were called Chinese stalls. Since a French mechanic named Joseph-Marie Jacquard (1752-1834) mechanized this classic loom, these machines are called ”Jacquard” loom. In jacquard looms, the job of lifting the warp wires and passing the colored threads between them is done automatically, so that even the most mixed embroidery fabrics can be woven by a single worker.

Jacquard Fabric is the coating surfaces created by combining yarns with various methods. Linen, silk, cotton, wool, etc. It is obtained from substances. The fabric is created by passing the yarns of different colors that are perpendicular and parallel to each other over each other. The fabric is produced by weaving or knitting method.
The general principle in weaving is that wefts and knits pass through each other. The biggest innovation in this area was the invention of Leonardo da Vinci (1490), the use of the shuttle. In this method, the weft threads are wound on a rod in the shuttle. When the chain replaces the threads at certain intervals and the threads move away from each other, the weaver passes the shuttle from one side to the other to the opened channel. Then the threads move away from each other in the opposite direction. The weaver passes the shuttle from one end to the other. This process continues continuously.

The jacquard fabric is a lint-free cloth with a large pattern of simple or complex yarns made up of natural or chemical fibers in a modern sense. Therefore, jacquard fabrics available on the market today can differ significantly in composition, for example, they contain cotton, linen, wool, silk, and polyester components in one way or another. In cases where thick fabrics are used to make the fabric, a very dense fabric appears, which looks like a tapestry.
The fabrics of the jacquard knitting and, as a result, products made of them are distinguished by their extraordinary strength and durability, perfectly retain their form and practically do not shed. In the meanwhile, jacquard is a very expensive fabric, distinguished by its noble texture and luster.

Today, jacquard is used to make elite bed linen, tablecloths, curtains, upholstery for furniture, velvets, neckties, scarves, expensive ties, blankets, tapestry fabrics, towels, and knitting.
How to care for jacquard products?
There are several recommendations for the care of jacquard products, especially for bed linen and tablecloths:
- Before using the new laundry, it is necessary to wash them in the water at a temperature of about 30 degrees, using a mild detergent. In this case, duvet covers and pillow covers should be pushed outwards before and the washing machine should not be overloaded, otherwise, products may appear wrinkles or creases, and additional friction can adversely affect the appearance of the laundry.
- Washing should be done in a gentle mode for delicate fabrics, but also for a spin and dry mode (only at low speeds).
- The laundry should be taken out of the washing machine immediately after the washing process and become wrinkle-free.
- Do not dry the laundry in direct sun.
- Even for white jacquard products, it is not recommended to use chlorine bleach as it can weaken the fibers of the fabric. If there is an urgent need, it is better to use a special protective stain remover and you need to follow the instructions carefully.
- Better ironing of jacquard sheets, tablecloths, and other products from the wrong side, so there is no risk of accidental damage
